Laurance Haines achieves Green Flag Eco Award

Laurance Haines achieved the prestigious Eco Schools Green Flag Award on June 11th 2018

The Green Flag Eco Award symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity. Laurance Haines had to establish an Eco Code, and work on 3 Eco-Schools topics. Laurance Haines has worked hard to incorporate environmentally-friendly practises throughout the whole school, including composting food waste, growing salad vegetables for the school's salad bar at lunch times, setting up a 'tuck shop' to redistribute unwanted KS1 fruit and vegetable snacks to KS2 children each afternoon, and introducing a pen-recycling intiative.

Laurance Haines liaises with the local community, too, and visits places such as  Croxley Business Park to help with their honey harvest, Apsley Paper Mill to see how paper is made, and the New Hope Trust Market garden to learn about growing and producing locally sourced foods.
