Cherry Tree School awarded British Council International School Award
The International School Award celebrates the achievements of schools that do exceptional work in international education.
My News Mag features a report on Cherry Tree School's International School Award here:
"Cherry Tree’s international work includes cross curricular projects devised by the school’s Modern Foreign Language teacher and teachers at the Colegio Publico Atalia in Asturias, Spain.
Pupils from both schools have worked together for the last four years exchanging letters and cultures by sharing food and recipes, traditional stories, learning about each other’s religious celebrations and festivals.

The students made a short video presentation for each other and studied translated versions of great works of literature from England and Spain. Cherry Tree pupils have tried their hand at flamenco dancing and re-enacted the famous Pamplona Bull Run.
Gina Cocks MFL subject leader said: “I am so pleased that all the children’s hard work has been recognised. I am really proud of my pupils and feel honoured to teach a subject that they enjoy and have made real progress in.
“Having a Spanish partner school has given them an audience and purpose to speak and write Spanish. It has also enabled me to maintain links with my colleagues abroad and we regularly share resources and educational research.” "
